La selección de directivos en las universidades. Reflexiones para el caso de la Universidad Politécnica Salesiana de Ecuador/ Selecting Executives at Universities. The Salesian Polytechnic University of Ecuador as a Case Study
Resumen
En el presente artículo se identifican posiciones teóricas, así como prácticas para la selección de directivos en las universidades con el fin de construir un referente para la valoración comparativa de un proceso específico de selección: la Universidad Politécnica Salesiana de Ecuador (UPS). Se definen como principales elementos de comparación la identificación de candidatos, los criterios de selección, el proceso de selección y la formación de directivos. El trabajo concluye con la presentación y análisis de las diferencias principales entre el proceso de selección de directivos en la UPS y otras instituciones como base para explorar opciones de mejoramiento.
ABSTRACT
In this paper, theories on how to select executives at universities, and ways in which they are selected in practice are identified with the aim of comparing them with the ways executives are selected at the Salesian Polytechnic University of Ecuador (UPS) in particular. How to search for candidates, what criteria are applied to select them, how the selection process goes, and how executives are trained, are the main things which are compared. Finally, major differences between executive selection process at the UPS and in other institutions are presented and analyzed for improvement.
